(New Orleans) Kemberley “Kem” Washington, a certified public accountant and business professor at Dillard University, has been nominated in the category of financial services for the upcoming Millennial Awards to be held Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Freedom Pavilion National World War II Museum.
In its third year, the Millennial awards recognizes the hard work of dynamic young professionals who contribute to the community through public service, make significant strides in business sectors, or serve as cultural ambassadors. This year’s event will be “A Salute to Service” in honor of the 10th Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. New categories this year include Outstanding Millennial First Responder and Outstanding Millennial Service Person of the Decade.
“I am truly honored to be recognized for my work in the New Orleans community,” said Kemberley Washington. “To be among so many extraordinary nominees, is truly a blessing.”
Kemberley Washington is a certified public accountant and professor at Dillard University. Kemberley has become a fixture in New Orleans media in recent years, appearing as a financial analyst on numerous TV and radio stations, including WVUE-TV, WDSU-TV and WBOK (1230 AM). She also authored, “Ten Commandments to a Financial Healing,” and “21 Days of Powerful Breakthroughs,” which have both received more than 60,000 downloads on the YouVersion Bible App. She has written for Bankrate.com, Yahoo Finance, Jet Magazine, Fox Business, Upscale Magazine, the New Orleans Tribune, New Orleans Agenda and many more. Her personal finance blog, Kemberley.com, gives financial tips to young adults.
Prior to joining Dillard’s faculty, Washington worked as a special agent in the Internal Revenue Service’s Criminal Investigation Division, and also as a revenue agent for the Small Business and Self-Employed Division. She earned her master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge.
