We have all been there before. You know, the moment you write your income and expenses on paper with good intentions. You say to yourself, “This month will be different. This time I will reach my financial goals.” But then it happens…
Macy’s has its one-day sale!
Of course Macy’s has it every day, but to you, this day is different!
So, as a result, that beautiful budget has just been set aside and you are determined to try again next month!
Whether it is shopping at your favorite store or overspending at Wal-Mart, no matter your temptation, you have to learn to live within your means.
And of course, who really wants to budget? There was a time I didn’t see the value of budgeting! Because of my desire to get what I wanted, when I wanted and how I wanted, I simply couldn’t stick to a budget.
However, the reality is, it wasn’t until I started putting a budget in place that I was able to:
Your budget does not have to prohibit you from shopping, but it can serve as a roadmap of understanding what you can truly afford. So if you are heading to the one-day sale you will know whether you can afford to spend $100 versus $500! And more importantly, sticking to (or at least trying to) can help you prevent overspending which will only keep you in the hole and force you to live paycheck to paycheck!
Remember: your choice, your future!
